Password List Crack Cpanel Hostgator
. A system administrator – or, more accurately, a former system administrator – from Hostgator, a server hosting company in Houston, Texas, has been arrested for hacking into his former employer’s network. Court documents after Eric Gunnar Grisse, 29, got the sack from his job at Hostgator, he jumped right back into the company’s network, using a backdoor Trojan he had planted earlier.
- CPanel is a web hosting account management tool available on all HostGator Linux hosting plans, including Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS and Linux Dedicated Servers. You only get one username per cPanel.
- Ouch, I have been very secure with my website credentials, although, someone has hacked my website and did anonymous modifications and gained backlinks from my website, my mistake was, I have chosen the simple password for my HostGator cPanel account. Now I do want to change cPanel Password in HostGator, can anyone instruct me to change cPanel password in HostGator?
Hosting companies do just what their name suggests: they run racks full of servers, plus a network to connect them all up, and then rent you time and space on one or more of them, so you don’t need to own and operate your own IT infrastructure. The services available typically include: simple websites, where your web pages are handled by a web server that also hosts other user’s websites; virtual servers, where virtualisation is used to share out powerful physical servers amongst multiple customers; and dedicated servers, where a specific physical server is provisioned with an operating system and turned over to you almost as if it were your own. →Web hosting is a bit like renting a bed in a backpackers’ dormitory; a virtual server is like a room in a boarding house; and a dedicated server is like an apartment in a high-rise block. Obviously, if you misconfigure your own hosted setup, you run the risk of being hacked and having your online presence ruined.
Most hosting companies try to prevent you from making egregious mistakes, but if you choose to give edit rights to your web pages to an careless contractor, say, that’s your lookout. At the same time, you put a lot of trust in the security competence of your hosting provider. After all, if your provider configures its network badly, then other customers might wrongly be able to mess with your servers, even though you set up your parts of the system correctly.
If your account has been migrated from WHMCS, and this is the first time you are logging in, you will first have to reset your account’s password. Here are the steps to reset your password: Click on the link labeled “Forgot Password” and enter the email address you use to login to your customer account.
Worse still, hackers who are able to get into the operational innards of a hosting business might be able to mess with any and all of the systems on the network. Grisse, it is alleged, was able to get unlawful access somewhere between these two levels.
According to the in this case, Grisse’s remote access program was found on 2723 separate servers inside Hostgator’s network. That’s about 25% of the servers entrusted to Hostgator, on the online community forum webhostingtalk.com. The court documents claim, amongst other things, that Grisse:. Named his backdoor program pcre, which makes it look vaguely like a commonly-used system library known in full as. Altered the system tools ps and netstat, which list running programs and network activity respectively, to hide his own presence.
(This makes his hack a “rootkit”, in the old-school Unix sense of the word.). Stole a Hostgator so he could continue to authenticate even from outside, after being sacked. SSH (secure shell) is a ubiquitous and general-purpose way of accessing Unix systems remotely by creating an authenticated and encrypted network connection between two computers.
Typically, there are two ways of logging in over SSH: by typing in a traditional username and password, and by using a pre-computed public/private key pair. The keypair approach is popular with sysadmins because it avoids the need to keep typing in usernames and passwords. You generate a keypair, and upload the public key to a secure area on the server; then you can login from any computer on which the. You can encrypt the private key if you like, which protects it against theft, but many people don’t bother so that they can write automation scripts that use the key to carry out administrative tasks. Grisse was caught, it is claimed, due to evidence that included:.
Logs saved as part of a once-a-minute screenshotting tool implemented by Hostgator to keep an audit trail of IT operations. The investigators claim that Grisse expressed the intention to “get himself fired” and to steal data from the company, and also identified logins from his Hostgator account, under the name acdc, to a server in Germany named efnet.pe.
An illicit network connection, open at the time of investigation, between Hostgator and efnet.pe. Apparently, the investigators were able to use the connection in reverse to locate a stash of hacking tools, exploits, and data belonging to Hostgator, as well as a logged-in user called acdc. If the allegations are true, it sounds as though the suspect was hoist by his own petard, or at least rooted with his own rootkit! HostGator doesn't proactively disclose to its customers that its systems have been compromised. This is terrible practice, and is why I forced two of my clients to close an account that they had hosted with HostGator.
Several email accounts from the first client got shut down for sending spam. A few of those email accounts had randomly generated passwords, and some were only used by servers/appliances on the client's network. The router logs showed no mail being sent from those hosts, so the account was compromised outside of the client's network. Since that many accounts were compromised, and across several OSs, I am fairly certain the failure is on HostGator's end.
HostGator, via email and support calls, insisted that the compromise happened on my client's end. The second client had the same thing happen, just a few weeks after the first. At that point, I had both cancel their accounts and move to a more reputable hosting service in June.
Getting the Right Host: Is HostGator It? What is the right web host for you? In this article, we take a deep dive into HostGator to help you determine if you should choose HostGator.
Looking for affordable plans and easy set-up? HostGator's commitment to providing support for new users makes them one of the best options for small-scale web hosting. Specializing in hosting for individuals and small business, the company cuts out unnecessary additions. Many of HostGator's competitors offer plans packed with features, forcing them to charge higher prices. HostGator appears much more affordable in comparison. Despite this, they still provide some powerful hosting infrastructure. The company offers a wide variety of hosting options.
Godaddy Cpanel Password
These range from user-friendly shared and cloud hosting to VPS plans for more advanced users. However, their cheap prices will also mean that customers will be faced with some limits. Background HostGator is a leading hosting provider with headquarters in Houston and Austin, Texas. They also have international offices to spread their reach globally. The company was founded back in 2002. Now, more than a decade later, they host websites for over 400,000 customers. I don't know about you, but I'd say that kind of experience is evident of the company's reliability.
Basic Web Hosting Suited for Smaller Businesses HostGator's web hosting plans are meant to serve low-maintenance websites. For example, individuals running their own blog or e-commerce store.
The Hatchling Plan Their cheapest shared hosting plan also has the most adorable name, the Hatchling. The Hatchling plan is perfectly suited to people who are brand new to web hosting. Cheaper than starter plans from both GoDaddy and Squarespace, HostGator should be considered by anyone on a budget. The Hatchling plan allows people to host one single domain and unlimited subdomains.
With one-click installs of a variety of applications, you can easily get started on WordPress. If you're like me and shudder in the face of following complex instructions to install applications, then one-click installs will be your best friend.
Also, enjoy unlimited FTP accounts so your developer can transfer files to manage your website from their own computer. This is an essential feature if you'll be having someone else develop your website. Even with the Hatchling plan you will be allotted unmetered disk space and bandwidth. Before you think this is too good to be true, I'll tell you right now that it is. Unmetered resources can be deceiving. Though this means HostGator doesn't place strict limits on your bandwidth and disk space, you'll still be required to keep your usage within the range that they consider acceptable.
But here's something cool: you'll get $100 in AdWords and $100 in Bing Ads credit with any plan so you can start marketing your brand-new website right away. The Business Plan HostGator's Business plan has even more excellent features to offer. With an included private SSL certificate and dedicated IP address, you will be ready to start accepting payments on an e-commerce store immediately. This is a rare inclusion for hosting companies, as many only give you shared SSL certificates. These can still trigger security warnings to your store customers. Private SSL certificates often need to be purchased separately. An affordable business plan that includes these is a rare and wonderful find.
Cloud Hosting for Superior Performance One of the best reasons to consider HostGator is their cheap cloud hosting options. For each of their basic web hosting plans, you can pay a small amount more for cloud hosting. This will give you twice the speed and four times the resources over a shared plan.
Cloud hosting reaches this kind of speed due to:. Low-density servers.
Premium hardware. Multiple caching layers. Data-mirroring that distributes 3 copies of your data across multiple devices. It's great for people on shared web hosting who find they're reaching usage limits. You can easily upgrade to cloud hosting at any time from the control panel.
Overall, your website is managed efficiently so dynamic content is processed super-fast. With unmetered resources, your websites can be scalable to respond to visitor spikes. You can scale up your resources from your dashboard with one click.
This will give your websites the power they need without experiencing downtime or requiring reboots. HostGator vs Popular WordPress Option, Bluehost Features Hostgator Bluehost SSL Certificates Free Purchased separately Features Many included Fewer features SiteLock CDN Included Include HostGator added managed WordPress hosting to their plans in 2015. These plans also run on the company's cloud architecture, giving users lightning-fast speeds. These WordPress plans are cheaper than those found at both WP Engine and Media Temple. In addition, they come with unlimited email accounts, something that is hard to find with cheap plans from other hosting companies.
Cheap WordPress Plans HostGator's most expensive WordPress plan is still half the price of Bluehost's cheapest managed WordPress plan. It also provides more than double the storage space. However, HostGator's WordPress plans do not include SSL certificates. These can be purchased separately, but Bluehost gives them to you for free with all plans. They also provide a free domain name while HostGator requires you to purchase one separately. Domain Transfers But here's where Bluehost falls short: they do not include free domain transfers.
Instead, they charge a hefty fee to migrate your websites. This makes HostGator stand out as an exceptional option for people with existing websites because they transfer domains for free. Both Bluehost and HostGator include SiteLock CDN with their WordPress plans.
What does this mean? That website content is stored globally, leading to fast load speeds for people all over the planet. SiteLock also protects websites from hackers, malware, and viruses. HostGator appears to be the cheaper host simply because they cut out additional features from their plans.
This makes them a great budget option for people who just need the basics. Intuitive Dashboard HostGator guarantees you a 99.9% uptime. From your dashboard, you will be able to monitor your own uptime, so you know that the company is delivering what they promise. If they fail to meet this guarantee, they will give you one month of hosting credit to your account. The ease of using a hosting provider's control panel is an important thing to consider, especially because many people using HostGator will be starting a website for the first time. HostGator's Customized cPanel HostGator uses the industry-standard cPanel control panel for all of its plans.
As cPanel can be confusing if you've never used it before, HostGator has customized it to make it more user-friendly. From the control panel, you can easily add packages to your plan based on what you want to do. For example, you can select that you need to support more traffic, integrate a blog, or are trying to sell stuff. Based on your selections, HostGator recommends a package to add to your plan. Add a package screenshot HostGator's Optional SiteBuilder You can also purchase and use their website builder from the control panel. The builder uses drag and drop functionality, includes a full image library, and allows for complete customization.
Site builders can be useful but often result in messy code. It's often easier for developers to build you a brand new site than customize one you have built on a drag and drop platform.
Just keep this in mind before you use it. Try out WordPress to build your website first. Other cPanel Features You'll be able to perform many other actions through the control panel:.
Create and manage an email account. View website traffic by integrating Google Analytics. Add domains and subdomains.
View your SSL certificate or purchase one. Get Google Apps to streamline your business.
Set up HostGator email marketing. Email Marketing HostGator's email marketing is free to use for your first 3 months to under 500 contacts. This feature includes tools for building your email list. Add contact information from your Facebook page or existing website.
Segment email lists to target specific audience groups. Create email messages with their mobile-friendly templates.
Never underestimate the power of email marketing. It has some of the highest ROIs (Return On Investments) for marketing techniques. And when you're trying it for free, you can't lose.
VPS Plans Offer Higher Performance and Flexibility A gives users full control over their hosting environment. It's meant for people who want root access to the server and need to install their own software or scripts, but VPSes can be challenging to maintain. HostGator offers fully-managed VPS servers which include access to their customized cPanel. On the other hand, their semi-managed servers do not include the control panel. You will need advanced technical knowledge to run websites smoothly on these plans.
Fully Scalable Hosting HostGator's VPS hosting will provide you with a scalable hosting environment. Your virtual server will be fully allocated to your own site. Forget about sharing resources with other people. Instead, scale your own resources with one click. Your hosting will be able to handle more complex websites and much higher numbers of visitors. Due to the server's virtual nature, HostGator can offer them at cheaper prices than dedicated servers would cost you.
Don't just assume that VPSes will always lead to higher performance. HostGator's lower-level VPS plans will not outperform the company's shared hosting plans. But they will give you more flexibility in your hosting. For better performance, I advise you to opt for their higher-level VPS plans. Typical Reseller Hosting Options Reseller hosting is one way to earn extra money with your web design business.
Advertising that you host websites can be a major selling point for you. You could even outsource web development and host these websites for your clients.
This is a great way to make money doing very little work. Host unlimited domains even on HostGator's cheapest plan.
With any reseller plan, you get unlimited email accounts, so you can offer them to all your clients. Be aware that your disk space and bandwidth is limited. For more resources, you will have to upgrade to more expensive plans. WHMCS Client Management HostGator's reseller plans include free WHMCS client management and billing software. This makes it easy to manage who you're hosting websites for and bill them accordingly.
From the WHM control panel, resellers can limit packages and specify resource amounts for each client. You will also be able to brand your clients' control panel with your own logo. Additionally, you can brand HostGator's video tutorials as your own to help your clients get started. Excellent Live Support and Helpful Resources Speaking of tutorials, this is a good time to mention what kind of support you can expect from HostGator. I would have liked to see a better-organized support page on HostGator for finding articles and resources. Their knowledgebase is a little difficult to navigate.
People may find it hard to find the answers they're looking for. You can contact customer support directly from your control panel. In fact, your support tickets are the first thing you see when you log in. Support ticket history screenshot As you sift through the options for narrowing your particular issue, you will be presented with links to helpful articles. Since the HostGator knowledgebase is not organized intuitively, this is a helpful way to find articles in it. If these fail to answer your question, you can continue on to contact live chat support. Getting support screenshot Always Available Support With a team ready to help you 24/7, you won't have to worry about your website problems for long.
If you prefer to talk to someone on the phone, as many do, you can get a hold of a support assistant via a toll-free number. People are available to answer calls at all hours. You can even send mail to one of their offices the US or Brazil if that's your style. However, this is the slowest possible way you can get support from them and I cannot recommend it.
Who Should Consider HostGator? HostGator is best suited to host individual websites and small businesses. It will be great if you're starting a blog on WordPress or building a simple portfolio website. In fact, their cloud-based WordPress hosting makes them perfect for this. On the other hand, bigger businesses will need to check out HostGator's VPS plans to get the resources they need to run websites smoothly. Just make sure you grab a from our website before signing up.
Upon logging into my HostGator account, I'm presented with many options. Tabs in the control panel point me to my account settings, billing information, hosting specifics, and a support page. Notice that you will be presented with HostGator advertisements in the sidebar. This can bother some people, as I know it bothers me. HostGator cPanel dashboard User Friendly cPanel HostGator's customized control panel is more user-friendly than the default cPanel. You can see all of your options nicely organized in tabs. This makes it easy to find what you need.
The control panel also makes it extremely easy to get support. A knowledgebase search in the sidebar gives you quick access to articles. And a support tab at the top lets you reach live chat support with no problem. Other Hosting Providers If you're looking for more inclusive features with your plans, then you may want to check out Bluehost. They'll be a good option for people building e-commerce websites on WordPress because they give you a free SSL certificate. If it's cheap, optimized WordPress hosting you like, look into InMotion Hosting. Their plans come with solid disk space limits.
This is good for people who dislike the vagueness of unmetered resources. For people who like cheap but want even cheaper than HostGator, 1&1 may interest you. Their cheapest plan gives you the bare minimum you need to run a website for next to nothing. What does it mean when disk space and bandwidth is unmetered? Unmetered or unlimited resources can be misleading as companies often still place some kind of restrictions on your usage of them. HostGator defines what they consider acceptable use in their terms of service.
Their unmetered disk space and bandwidth is really only enough to run personal websites and small businesses. They state that customers using more than 25% of system resources for more than 90 seconds will be asked to reduce their usage. HostGator may even terminate your access to services if you continue to violate this. If you're just running smaller websites, you shouldn't worry about this. It will only be a problem to larger businesses who think that unmetered resources mean they have access to as much as they need.
Do HostGator's prices increase upon renewal of a contract? Yes, this is a common thing for hosting companies to do. HostGator offers their cheapest rates for people signing up for longer lengths of time. They give you their most affordable options when you sign up for 36 months. In fact, this is their advertised price. People not willing to commit to longer than month-long terms will be faced with much higher prices.
Once your term is over, you will be charged at these higher rates as well. Which Company is Better for WordPress Hosting, Bluehost or HostGator? Bluehost is an officially-recommended hosting provider by WordPress.
They offer various managed WordPress plans. These all include SSL certificates, CDNs, and free domain names. However, HostGator provides a longer term for their money-back guarantee as well as more storage space. Their WordPress plans are also cheaper and run on speedy cloud infrastructure. Both companies provide easy WordPress set-up through one-click app installs.
Although WordPress recommends Bluehost, HostGator may be a better option for people who want cheaper WordPress hosting. The company can assist with some PCI compliance settings but this will generally be your responsibility. Pros and Cons of HostGator There are good and bad points with every hosting companies. Here are the main ones to consider for HostGator. Pros. Unmetered hosting resources at an affordable price for all shared web hosting plans. Fast cloud hosting optimized for running WordPress sites at high speed.
Fantastic customer support available around the clock. Cons.
Websites are not automatically PCI compliant which may be a problem for e-commerce sites. HostGator's knowledgebase is difficult to navigate. Their unmetered hosting will still limit larger businesses.
Final Thoughts HostGator is a good option for those who want a cheap hosting option. Its best feature is the unmetered hosting, which is perfect for a smaller website. We all know that unmetered doesn't really mean 'unmetered' when your website gets popular, but HostGator is more than adequate for a personal or small business website.
The support is also excellent, even if their knowledgebase is a little difficult to navigate. For larger businesses or those who run higher-traffic sites, there are better options for hosting like InMotion that have been mentioned earlier. HostGator is a good, solid, easy to work with host nonetheless. Its user-friendliness and good support makes it a good choice for smaller sites. If you are not a developer I would think twice about hosting with Hostgator. They only have a single user sign in for the CPanel and as I am unknowledgeable to handle technical issues etc I rely on a web developer.
I wouldn't ordinarily mind giving the web developer log in details accept that in this case the email section of the Cpanel is accessible. This means the entire developer team who is working on my website at the time has full access to the business private email accounts. I spent 2 sessions a hour each with Hostgator support asking if they couldn't just place additional password protection on the email section as there is confidential business info in some of these emails that I don't want just anyone to access.
But I was told no and that is the way it is. Single user and no password protection from Cpanel into Email. How difficult is it to place password protection from Cpanel into Email? I find this very backwards for what is supposed to be a technologically advanced company. Therefore as a non developer and the security issues posed I will certainly be looking into changing hosting servers as soon as possible. They need to spend less money on advertising and gaining new customers and more money taking care of the ones that they already have. I guarantee almost all of the raving reviews about hostgator are affiliates that get a commission for signing people up with them.
I was with but I felt it was too expensive so I decided to switch to hostgator since they had such really low. Well those low prices come at a high cost.
I was told the migration would take up to 72 hours. I requested the migration a week before my service with my current host was to end. A week later they hasn't even Started the migration process yet.
I had been checking and they kept saying 'within 24 hours'. I finally called and the guy told me they had no idea when the migration would be complete. He refused to let me speak to a supervisor. Before I had a chance to contact my previous hosting company they cancelled my service and my websites ( which represent thousands of hours of words and hundreds of dollars in advertising) were gone. Bottom line I almost lost my websites because of their incompetence.
I don't recommend them to anyone except for someone that wants a cheap hosting company to host their cookie recipe blog. My site has been down for 48-hours with a ticket just sitting there open with zero updates. And, to even get a ticket submitted you have to go through all this hassle with a 'live chat' which Barely even works ( type something, click Send.again, again, again, nothing sends, then all of a sudden 10 things show up of the same thing you typed). It's incredibly inefficient and frustrating.I feel Very unimportant to them, which means I need to look for a different host. I left for them.what on earth was I thinking? Bluehost is far superior in their service. Plus, it is Hard, really hard to work in HostGator's C-panel ( if you can even find it).
They make it hard for you to be their client. And, you can't even install your own SSL - what the heck? I am SO unhappy with them. The moment I can leave, I'm outta there! Friends I am one of the big fan of hostgator and being with them since 2005 now over 12 years, Still with them, but many things have changed since then and I believe hostgator is not able to compete with time, Yes due to their promotional offers and discounts they give to new users. Hostgator was able to have more customers than ever before but their standard of service has dropped a lot.
I you ask me how. I wants to explain in detail one by one. Support:- If you talk about hostgator support this is in worst condition these days, their staff is not able to handle this much of work load, despite their customer base increasing, they really not taking this seriously. This is bad from my point of view. You can easily see most of above reviews have same views on their support. Features;- Yep they have decent number of features but most of these features are readily available in most of the hosting companies, and nothing very special, instead other may have some extra feature for same.
Uptime;- Yes! You can be tension free from this point of view, Their update is quite Super, I really never see my site being down even for 2 hours. You can rely on them at least for uptime quality. Value:- I still don't want to give them 5 start on this, because today everyone wants to have their website have https, and this is available for free, they they will charge you ten buck if you don't purchase ssl from them.
And this really hurts me. I have over 50 websites and I don't want to waste 500 dollars for ssl certificates which this can be done for free.
Just because of this I am looking some other hosting company. Host Gator has the Worst customer service and billing department. What's worse is that you can tell that they do not care that they suck at all. It's clear they do not value their customers. In one week I have had two 2 billing issues with them. One of those issues being a 421$ unauthorized charge to my account.
The person on the phone couldn't care less. Most companies would offer you something because of all the trouble they caused.
But no, not Host Gator. Look, at other options before deciding to work with them. While the features may be there the service will make you regret signing up. There is no doubt that hostgator is one of the most popular hosting company. But They are not able to sustain the quality as they should be, and for obvious reasons, number of clients they have compared to their staff.
That's Why I give only 2 stars for their support which really sucks. If you are not technical and you think you will need help then don't look at hostgator because their minimum response time has increased from 24 to 48hrs even 72hr some time. Also if you talk about their live support it may range from 30min to 90mins. Stay away if you need regular help or you are newbie. Features Normally I would have given them 4 stars but I cut done point because they don't allow you to use free ssl or https certificates from letsencript they want you to pay them fees to set up Free SSL or buy their product That's really sucks. Most of good firms already supporting letsencript certificates. Uptime is Good like other companies you know most of the companies have 99% uptime, So nothing special here.
Value for money I gave 3 stars where, because they are expensive compared to few in market offering similar features or even better. So before you go and actually decide just make sure they are up to your expectations. But I am still with them:) as I am technical enough not need much help from them. The site is highly automated, but when you try and make contact with a live person, it's extremely difficult to do so. They make assumptions about your account which work in their favour - e.g.
Assuming that you want to renew your domain name rather than asking if you do. In several attempts extending over several months I was unable to reach anyone who could give me a meaningful answer to my queries, and at length I gave up and cancelled my subscription.
Two years later I received a warning that they had issued an invoice for renewing the domain that I had never been able to get working on their hosting system. I have been with Hostgator since they were a small privately owned company, over ten years I think. At first the customer service was Fantastic. I sang their praises. After they expanded too fast and were bought by EIG, the customer service has gotten worse and worse. Now like dealing with the cable company. I cannot file a trouble ticket myself, I have to endure a chat with an ( often) know-nothing intermediary somewhere in the universe who will make me walk through all the stuff I already did.
Actually getting to a real tech nearly impossible and at times takes days. '24/7 support' means that you can chat with someone, not that you will GET support in a meaningful period of time. Our IPs have been blacklisted numerous times, only once because of a problem on one of our sites.
All the others were a range of IP addresses - ours somewhere in the middle. So we suffered due to problems on someone else's Hgi ip. Right now all emails from our server go to Spam on AOL and several other companies, and we don't know why. They are probably great if all you want is a Wordpress site, but running a VPS or reseller server where your reputation with your customers depends on Hgi's responsiveness is a losing proposition.
Hostgator has 'fair' support. They typically have chat service that works, but it doesn't always. Today I was bumped off & had to sit through another wait before being helped. Their answers are sometimes pretty vague. For example, was trying to transfer a domain away from them. You get the help docs on everything up to the point where they have to approve the transfer. It's there that you have no control.
There is a 'wait period' that you don't get with any other provider that I know of. Don't purchase your domains at Hostgator. They're an 'ok' host for sites, but they have their outages, slow servers, and do not have the free SSL certificates that other hosts are now offering.
Hostgator was my first hosting company, and I was scared about setting up an screwing up my site. I actually paid someone on fiverr to do it for me. I later setup another site but did it all myself while on the phone with Hostgator Support.
They answered all my questions for me and were very helpful. Later when my site was getting a little crazy and hard for me to keep running by myself, they were quick to offer some solutions and make things easier for me again.
Excellent company overall, and great rates. I started my first website with hostgator. I purchased hosting and domain for 1 year, on shared wordpress package. Somehow i managed to get this bundle at just RS. 1300 for the first year, which comes around RS 107/month.
I am really happy with this super amazing deal, as i am a student and spending every single penny is a big deal to me. Not only did i get this dirt cheap deal, i was also very much impressed with the customer support they gave to me when i had problem in payment. I also loved the uptime their server is giving to my wordpress website ( www.backpackguy.net). They also provided me with free CDN ( cloudflare) and other software bundles through softaculus. I dont know if i was too lucky on the purchasing day, or Hostgator understood my problems, but i am really very happy with this dirt cheap deal with all loaded features.
We moved last month from to Hostgator after Bluehost tripled their. We were told Bluehost and Hostgator are 'sister companies' and that transition of all our domain names and hosted sites would be automatic, seamless, and easy. It has been anything but.
At this writing, our company has been without incoming email for a week. Hostgator says 'someone' reset our MX records to some junk sites in Bulgaria, and for they will research for us how that happened. It took multiple, multiple calls to get everything transferred by Hostgator staff who were almost all incredibly polite and professional, but in hindsight most did not know what they were doing.
There is no price we can put on losing all incoming email from a week which have apparently been hijacked to Bulgaria because Hostgator does not have them on its server. What a nightmare. I used Hostgator for years, but I have to leave.
I have an important new client site hosting on their Hatchling Cloud package and ALL emails from the website email aliases to Time-Warner Cable bounce because TWC says there are too many simultaneous connections or too many recipients. The issue is not my client, but other Hostgator customers who abuse the TWC spam policy. I moved the site from a non-cloud package to a cloud plan because Hostgator told me that would solve the problem.
It did not solve the problem and all Hostgator can say is there is nothing they can do. Well, there is something I can do and I'm doing it now. Hostgator is Great for hosting Joomla, but if email is important to you, stay away from this company. My site has been with Hostgator for over many many years. Like other reviewers they've been fantastic. And then they were sold and became a nightmare!!! Firstly, getting help took way, has moved from under 1 minute to an average 15-20 minutes and the new support staff either are incapable of understanding simple, straightforward facts, or were incapable of thinking.
Occasionally you get knowledgeable support but most seem to be following guidenotes and disappear off for minutes at a time and then come back with the next logical question. Their questions indicate they have no real concept of what they were doing, and looked as though they were following a script. They used to be the stuff legends are made from and aren't any longer. It could be that it's teething problems, but after 14 days of inability to update my three hosted sites because their script kiddies can't find out why their own system is playing up - their admission that it's their system - not mine.I'm off. Avoid them as you'd avoid sitting next to someone with a streaming cold.
I am using Hostgator services for past 3 years, I initially signed up with the HostGator's baby plan but after one year I upgraded my plan to their business plan which is just about 6$ per month. Their support is excellent and provides high value for money. Chat representatives responds within average 4-5 minutes and always proves to be very helpful even in very complicated situations, whether you are an experienced developer or just a newbie in website development they will provide best solutions quickly to all your problems in web hosting. I recommend HostGator hosting services if you are looking for good value of money since their plans are very cheap and also if you require high quality support. I am also impressed with uptime of HostGator given the of plans its best in the market. You can start with their Hatchling plan which is their cheapest plan and if you are satisfied with their service you can upgrade anytime its very easy and quick. Hostgator Baby Plan I joined hostgator by using their one penny welcome coupon but after using their service for a month, i felt really good that my website is always up and loads faster than most of my competitors website.
I have also contacted their support several times, It takes 5 minutes on an average for a customer representative of hostgator to come on chat to help you, but after that they are very humble and fast in response as well as happy to help. All in all, I would recommend people to use hostgator if they want hassle free hosting experience. I needed a great hosting company with a track record for some of my money sites. I had to make a choice between Hostgator and. I decided upon Hostgator and subscribed for a Baby Shared Hosting Account. I thought that with this big company I probably will not receive proper attention, but boy oh boy, was I wrong.
I had an issue with a php script I wanted to run on the server that gave me some problems, I contacted them, and in less than an hour I was contacted and sorted out. They did not only instruct me how to go about, no, they actually took it upon themselves to do the full installation for me. I’m very happy with their turnaround time and support. Other things that I like about them are this: -Amazing up time - Cheap, yet quality hosting -Fast server speed -One click script installing -Lots of other features. Hostgator is really rocks and awesome. Its my lifes best experience with hostgator when i started my website. Its amazing and wonderful experience of customer support from their services for beginers. At first i know nothing about to build or design website but there are ease access tool available from hostgator to understand and make your design self on your own ways as you want. These tolls are like just play games. They provide best web hosting as i experienced till now.
And the awesome part is about i gotted this all are absolutely free.but before few year, due to less free time from studies i m not able to continue my website. Now my Studies completed and i want to continue my website. My site has been with Hostgator for over ten years. At the start, they were fantastic and then they were sold. What was a trouble free service turned into a nightmare.
Firstly, getting help took way, way to long. It was also clear that the help staff were either not reading the tickets properly, or were incapable of understanding simple, straightforward facts, or were incapable of thinking. The staff continually asked questions when the answer was in the last exchange of emails. Or, their questions showed they had no real concept of what they were doing, and looked as though they were following a script. The next issue was the up time. Outages became frequent and trying to contact support was a waste of time as it took an unacceptable time to contact them, and their response time became the stuff legends are made from! Hostgator finally, at long last, recognised they had a support problem, so what do they do?
Made things even more difficult for the customer to contact them. They dumped the ticket system. I guess they figured out they could run a great business if 'those pesky, damn customers' didn't contact them. I finally got the message and decided to move to a different hosting company ( after trying them out first.) It took about 36 hours for another company to release a domain name to my new host.
Getting a name released from these guys is a Herculean effort. On the 29 January, the first problem encountered was trying to get the EPP release code. The instructions on their website were followed, but the system refused to reveal the EPP code, despite the destructions stating the process would reveal the code. After more wasted time in a chat secession there were two outcomes. The first was the help person stated the domain transfer would take about three business days, and the second was that the EPP key was emailed to me.
After the paperwork was lodged with Hostgator to release my main domain, I received an email stating it had been approved and that 'Normally the transfer process will take 5-7 days. The transfer will be completed automatically.' Essentially, they keep the domain 'host-age' as a punishment for leaving. Billing was emailed asking for an earlier release, but in true Hostagegator form, they didn't bother to respond.
The seven days have now expired and the release has not taken place. Avoid this mob as you would a plague.
I've tried lot of hosting sites and wasn't satisfied much. But when i see Host Gator ads in youtube and with only for the first month i tried it.
Setup was quick and customer service was nice, from then i have been using host gator.45 Day Money Back Guarantee ( returns your money if you are not satisfied) - Reseller Hosting ( allows you to sell the hosting plan) -Unlimited Disk Space ( you can have unlimited space for ) -Site Builders ( it has site builder so without any code you can build website easily) there are lots of other features and i am found of it. I have been a Hostgstor customer for some time now and I am happy with the up time service, sites almost never go offline and if they do it is for just 1 second or so. I did not like much customer service support. I was trying to install a Php script and asked Support to change permissions for my script to run properly but they refused to do it due to their server security policy. The script I needed to use was a non cracked, but paid version, commercial and well known, clean Script and represented no harm to any site or server. So I ended spending 3 hours trying to get support to FIX the issue. Finally I decided to use another script, actually an older version of the same Script, that hostgator would accept.
My script provider was in shock considering they had to provide me with an older script php version that can run on my hostgator server. An outdated script version worked fine now. Apart from that issue the website runs smoothly and is not high, support is always online even when sometimes supervisors are not always available if you have to escalate your issue. I would give them 3.5 out of 5 stars. Having used hostgator to host one of my site for more than a year, i have mixed opinion about them.
Hostgator hosting is bit pricey though they release coupons often. If you pick up hosting during the mega deal ( maximum 60% off deal), you are saving your pocket.
There is no free domain which been offered by many other host providers. One great disadvantage with them is their poor support system. Their chat wait time takes more than 1 hour sometimes, which makes me to quit the chat and find answers somewhere else! Otherwise their cpanel is nice, easy to work with, good for wordpress. Been a Hostgator customer almost a year now. I installed old theme i found on my external hard drive and after that, I couldn´t log in to my WordPress site.
Can you imagine the feeling when typing in the domain name and /wp-admin and only thing you see is an error message? I contacted Hostgator customer support and they were very helpful. All i needed to do is to rename one plugin name since it was outdated.
After that, I could log in to my site and delete this old plugin and continue to build my site. Although their customer service is great i must warn that i waited 15 minutes in queue. I've been a HostGator client for about three months. I started using them because, making a quick search about host companies, from the major ones they seemed to be the best. I bought a trimestral plan because of the, which was pretty good. Everything was going ok and my account was deployed fast, until the moment that I had to upload my website to the server.
I can summarize it in two words: terribly slow. After some hours battling in my FTP client, my site was up.
Again, everything was going ok, until the time that I suddenly had a peak of visitors. My website was replaced by lots of error pages with a huge HostGator logo. The support answered two days after this problem, when I could solve it by myself. Basically, now I have to pray every single day that my website doesn't get a lot of visitors, and I can't wait to move out from them. Their servers are slow and overcrowded ( there are more than 200 websites in a single server). Probably that's why they can offer a good price.
HostGator: never again. They are cheap, but they are cheap for a reason. There support sucks and fob you off with a partial refund if they are unable to help.
I was developing my Html website using a temporary URL they provided. I was literally 98% completed and they decided to remove temporary URL from the server, with no notice. Even there support team were unaware. They only offer support via live chat now, no more emails or tickets and waiting times can very easily exceed 2 hours. They told me to get a partial refund if I could not fix the issues they caused me and that they would not help correct the issues they created. If all as you want is a WordPress website and are prepared to use they're built in WP installer then you will probably have no issues. If you want anything outside WordPress or Magento installs which they support then you will struggle to maintain your website long term as they keep changing file paths and URLs and don't support 'manual migration' ( self-installed) applications.
I won't be using for too much longer, and I highly recommend that you look elsewhere for a better hosting provider. I am very happy with their services. This is te most professional hosting provider in industry. Their up time, hosting features, wordpress one click install and most importantly, their advertising credits. I like the host providing live chat and advertising credits, and hostgator is providing the both. They are also providing the first year discounted hosting with free domain.
The one drawback which i ( and my friends) faced is their delayed customer response. Still this is best hosting in industry with low. They have lasted for almost 15 years, that says how strong, how good, how futuristic their progress is and their play in this industry. For a web developer like me who is developing and both managing websites for clients, up time is what they care about. It is the committed support which makes you feel that you are not alone when you are a freelancer like me. They should focus more on new features like adding more value to the money we pay. Thumbs up and I will recommend hostgator than any other fellas out there.
Hostgator for me has been one of the best Hosting company, What I like about Hostgator most is their up-time, Believe me I never see, that my website goes offline for any reason so far, Its being about 2 years now in a row. Actually myself it experienced web- developer, This may a reason I never face major problems. But I am really not very happy with their support, Once I fall in a situation from where only experienced technician could help, for some reason my website start consuming lot ram, I contacted them, But I got first reply after 48hrs, That really bad. But they resolve my issue in 30 mins.
If you talk about their freebies they offer you few advertising credit for Facebook and adword that's cool. And Their shared hosting are also very reasonable compared to other, and comes with cpanel. Which I thing is necessity if you are quite frequent changing your backend files. There are good and not so good hosting providers. I used some of them and I have found that HostGator is the best at a reasonable.
They also recorded or sell domain names. With Hostgator you get a powerful Control Panel cPanel known as cPanel is where you access all the powerful tools you need to have a stable and solid website.
I think they have everything you need for a sophisticated merchant. I took several months with them and I have not used even half of the tools available. You can start with your basic plan, known as Hatching, and as you grow your business or website, you can improve your most advanced offerings. I've been with them for several years and I'm still with his plan Hatching, although it has time to improve your Baby plan. I was hosted my website at Hawkhost since July 2015 but few weeks ago the website usually display error 500. I have contact with their support but they asked me upgrade to next hosting package which cost more than /month. My website is small not many traffic per day.
Few days ago Hostgator offers special cloud hosting for only /month. I have purchased this package and moved my website from Hawkhost to Hostgator. Website working very smoothly without any problems. My hosting package has 4 CPU and 4GB of RAM. This is amazing and now I am making few more websites to host at this package.
I recommend you follow the blog of some hosting companies and purchase their good offers at lowest. Hope this review bring some helps to you Regards.
