The assembly of the stand was easy although the pictorial diagram showing the assembly process was a little different from reality in that some pieces were already pre-assembled; keep that in mind so you aren't looking for loose parts in the bag that have already been assembled in the factory such as the 'nut sheath' and the 'turning axis' parts. Also, the drawing fails to show the two screws that hold the Pedestal to the Link Pole. The screws were not missing from the package, just not show on the drawing.

You piqued my curiosity now to discover just which code set to set preferences on the scanner. Odd they did not include even a simple copy of the hardware manual codes. I would think a very few would suffice. Beep loud soft off, ir detection toggle, that surely would not be more than an extra page or even printed on the back side of that creative stand assembly instruction.
The short of it, the preferences are set by reading a control barcode. I do not know what or where to find the control barcode at this time.
